STOCK
THE LAB Collection
In partnership with Carl Hansen & Søn, Laura Bilde and Thibaut Allgayer have created STOCK – a storage collection made from reclaimed Oregon pine that originates from the Rud Rasmussen Workshop. The aesthetics of STOCK has references to the iconic transportation boxes made from premium Oregon pine with underplayed details, that requires a high level of craftsmanship. Back then, the wood was collected and transformed into furniture. With STOCK, Bilde and Allgayer have turned the planks into drawers that are stacked in a protecting frame to mimic the boxes.
STOCK has been created in close collaboration with the talented apprentices in Carl Hansen & Søn’s own apprentice workshop THE LAB, which is founded in order to train the best cabinet makers possibly, and as a way to preserve the craftsmanship in Denmark.
The inspiration behind STOCK is based on the theme “Factory”. Laura Bilde and Thibaut Allgayer was inspired by industrial spaces and the shipping box and translate it into a new piece of furniture. In the past, cabinetmakers used to collect shipping wooden boxes from boats that were made of Oregon pine to rebuild furniture, and therefore STOCK is made of Oregon Pine as a tribute to the history of craftmanship.
