Sophisticated Organic Elegance
Danish designer Marianne Tuxen created the MT221 Tulip Pendant in 2022 as part of the restoration of Carlsberg founder J.C Jacobsen’s villa, the Carlsberg Academy in Copenhagen. Created specifically for the Pompeii Hall, a magnificent conservatory inspired by ancient Italian architecture, Tuxen’s Tulip Pendant blends seamlessly into its surroundings, bringing a touch of simple, modern elegance into the space. Demonstrating her expertise in lighting design, sculpture, and architectural design, the MT221 Tulip Pendant is crafted from three layers of mouthblown gloss white opal glass. The shade’s organic shape draws parallels with a tulip’s petals, emitting an even, glare-free ambient light, while the small aperture at the bottom provides downward task lighting. A brushed brass suspension merges with the softly curving shade forming a classic yet modern organic silhouette. Suitable for public and private environments, The MT221 Tulip Pendant is available in sizes Ø170 and Ø360 and hangs beautifully separately or in a cluster arrangement.
