Sharon Fisher & Matteo Barenghi
Creates timeless pieces with a great focus on quality
Interior architect and designer Sharon Fisher and architect Matteo Barenghi started their Danish-Italian collaboration across borders in 2008. Since then, the two architects and designers have created timeless pieces with a great focus on quality. The focal points of the design duo are the search for natural simplicity and the fascination of good materials and
skilled craftsmanship. The Tsugi Shelf for Carl Hansen & Son was designed with equal focus on form and function. The apparently simple shelf exploits the principles of the ingenious and precise Japanese Sashimono carpentry, concealing the locking mechanism without visible transitions.
Sharon Fisher (1959-)
Sharon Fisher, born in 1959, graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation in 1987.
Prior to the academy, Fisher spent two years at Vibeke Klint’s textile studio where her interest in Danish design and architecture was reinforced and has strongly influenced her work ever since.
In 1990, Fisher established her own studio from where she has gained great recognition as an architect and interior designer. Fisher’s work and design are characterised by simplicity and the love for refined materials and colours.
Matteo Barenghi (1971-)
Born in Italy in 1971, Barenghi graduated from the Milan Polytechnic in 1999. Afterwards, he spent several years at acclaimed design and architecture studios, first at the Michele De Lucchi Studio in Milan, followed by Kokaistudios in Shanghai, where he was one of the founders.
Afterwards, Barenghi moved to Copenhagen where he collaborated for five years with the architecture studio Dissing + Weitling. Here, among Arne Jacobsen's successors, he developed his passion for structures, materials, and processes. Barenghi’s work is characterised by an unbridled attraction to technology where his engineering and craftsmanship skills come into play.
